Asisi Panorama

Experience Wittenberg during the Reformation like never before: At the Asisi Panorama "Luther 1517", immerse yourself in a 360° panoramic image that depicts medieval city life in impressive size. Located just 250 meters from the Johanniterhaus Wittenberg, you can easily reach one of the most exciting attractions of the Lutherstadt on foot.

Whether as a part of your itinerary after arrival, a highlight of a city trip, or as a complement to a visit of the castle and town church – the panorama is an ideal excursion destination for our hotel guests.

What is the Asisi Panorama "Luther 1517"?

The artist Yadegar Asisi has created a monumental, all-around painting that depicts Wittenberg at the time of the Reformation. The colossal circular image is about 15 meters high and 75 meters in circumference and combines historical scenes with everyday moments on the city's streets and squares.

In the specially constructed round building on Lutherstraße, you can expect:

  • a 360° view of medieval Wittenberg
  • a three-story platform in the center from which you can discover new details
  • a sound and light show where day and night alternate in the panorama
  • numerous well-known figures such as Martin Luther, Katharina von Bora, Philipp Melanchthon, and Lucas Cranach in various scenes

Originally planned for only a few years, the panorama is currently expected to remain in Wittenberg until 2030.
